Lina Lukens, LCSW
I feel fortunate to say that I love my work.  It is an honor to collaborate with clients for the purpose of improving their lives.  I seek to create a safe environment for people to connect with their internal wisdom and become more genuine.  My eclectic style draws from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), and relational therapies.

SPECIALTIES: Eating disorders, borderline personality disorder, trauma, anxiety, and mood disorders

PROFESSIONAL TRAINING and EDUCATION:
I earned my master’s in social work from Bryn Mawr College in 1995 and started my career at the Devereaux Foundation, treating adolescents with emotional and behavioral issues. In 1997, I moved to the Renfrew Center of Philadelphia, where I worked in admissions and later directed the intensive outpatient program. By 2003, I became a therapist at The Belmont Center’s eating disorders day treatment program while building my private practice. Since 2005, I have focused exclusively on my private practice and my work with The Center for Acceptance and Change.

CONTINUOUS LEARNING:
I am intensively trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (Linehan B-tech training) and have been facilitating DBT groups since 2003.  I have a particular interest in working with the college-age population (in addition to those in their 20s) as they struggle with the challenges of moving toward independence.

I seek to create a safe environment for people to connect with their internal wisdom and become more genuine.
