Solomon Friedman, MA, Doctoral Candidate

Doctoral Student

I am a doctoral student at Widener University’s Institute for Graduate Clinical Psychology. I am passionate about helping people build skills and confidence in using those skills to create meaningful lives. I strive to create a safe, supportive environment where individuals can learn to respond to distress, intense emotions, and difficult thoughts in effective, values-driven ways. My approach emphasizes collaboration, validation, cultural responsiveness, and helping clients draw on their internal wisdom.

PROFESSIONAL TRAINING and EDUCATION:
As part of my doctoral training, I have trained in outpatient, inpatient, and residential levels of care. Through Jefferson University’s Center City Clinic for Behavioral Medicine, I provided comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy to adults with marginalized identities, particularly gender-expansive and LGBTQ+ individuals. At Malvern Health, I provided individual and group therapy to inpatient and residential patients facing systemic and socioeconomic challenges, including trauma, substance use, and discrimination. I also have experience working with children and adolescents with developmental differences, using behavioral interventions to support social and emotional functioning.

In addition to my clinical work, I have an extensive background in psychological research, including work on mood disorders, adolescent development, and motivational processes in education. I have co-authored peer-reviewed publications and presented at national and international conferences.
